LOreal Paris Magic Skin BB Cream Review

LOREAL Paris Magic BB Cream is a new all in one product from Loreal. Women today are always searching for anything that saves time, an all in one beauty cream is perfect for that.

I am not big on makeup, honestly I throw on some mascara, maybe some eye shadow and I am done. I am not saying that's the best, that is just how I am. Simple. So when I was asked to review this cream I thought, maybe, maybe not. I am glad I did.

The cream is simple to apply, just a few dots and blend.

It really does blend in and it is formulated to prime, perfect, hydrate and correct skin. I will say, I love the even smooth skin look with this cream.

I can't honestly say it is something I will use daily but I do like it!

Pros

 Lightweight
Easy to apply
Looks Great
Great brand.
Blends easily

Cons

Any type of skin/sun protection would be a plus.

Schick Hydro Silk Review.

Schick Hydro Silk Review.

As a Bzz Agent I was chosen to review the Schick Hydro Silk razor.

The Hydro Silk includes a water-activated moisturizing serum to hydrate your skin. If you are like me (and many many others) dry skin is one terrible part of the winter months. As much as I love seeing the snow fall, the minute the temperature drops I think of getting out the lotion and trying to cure dry skin before it happens!

The moisturizer on this razor is great! I would have to praise Schick for that! Anything moisturizing is a + in my book.

The style of the razor is your usual razor with 5 blades and contoured oval cartridges. Soft touch handles with rubber grips. Gotta have those grips!

All in all I was pleased with this razor and didn't have any complaints.

**As a BzzAgent, I have received the Schick Hydro Silk razor free in exchange for a review, however, all of the opinions expressed here are my own.

DIY Laundry Basket Shelf

Time for a little weekend DIY. My wonderful hubby had built me a laundry folding table/basket holder this past summer. I loved it but after we decided to bring our dog Ginger's bed upstairs from the basement at night, I needed a little more room. I decided the table was a little large for the room. But I love it, so, my hubby basically redesigned my shelf so that it fit in the corner. Yay for me and more room for my laundry room!

I have to finish the chalkboard tags to label the baskets but otherwise I love it! The shelf is perfect for holding each basket up off the floor and I love how it looks!

Have you completed any DIY projects this weekend?

20 Mule Team Borax Review, Giveaway & Sweepstakes.**Winners chosen.

The winners are...

Bonnie & Amy

Congratulations to the winners! Thank you to all that entered!

**Winners will receive an email to confirm, please respond within 48 hours. Thank you.

Did you know that 20 Mule Team Borax is all natural?

Borax is 100% natural mineral from the earth. Once removed from the ground, it is washed, dried and boxed for consumers.

Borax is the common name for sodium tetraborate: a naturally occurring substance produced by the perpetual evaporation of seasonal lakes.

Absolutely nothing is added. No phosphates, chlorine or other additive chemicals.

Enough of the technical stuff, now for the fun stuff.

A few of the many uses of Borax are as follows:

Laundry detergent booster, making clothes cleaner and softens hard water.

Deodorizer for carpets.

Washing dishes, add a little Borax to your water.

Insecticide, yep you read that right, Borax can be used to get rid of those pesky ants.

Saving the best for last, my favorite use for Borax is an ingredient in making my own laundry detergent! I have posted about this before here but just for fun I will add the recipe to the end of this post for you today. This is a great way to save money & make great detergent.

If you would like to see more uses for 20 Mule Team Borax you can find them here.

In the past, I have used Borax many times as an extra boost for those muddy work clothes my hubby brought home. I love the extra clean. I have also used it for our homemade detergent as I mentioned above. I love that it is 100% natural.

20 Mule Team Borax just launched their latest sweepstakes and the winner will receive $1500.00 plus they are giving away 171 coupons for free Borax! You can enter the sweepstakes by clicking here.

Freebies!

Freebies!

The past few days have been filled with new freebies to sign up for. I love it. Especially when I can sign up for freebies that we need! I was having a chat with my sister in law last week about our stockpiles of shampoo, deodorant etc... I love how when my hubby says "I am out of shampoo!" I can say hang on, let me go to the "store" in our spare bathroom and shop haha. I must admit, I am not an Extreme Couponer that you see on tv but I do keep a decent stockpile of the things that we do use and go through daily. I love the face that I have a bunch of shampoo, deodorant, lotion etc... in the spare cupboard and I don't have to run to the store.

So, with all the latest full size shampoo, deodorant, mascara and razor freebies we have been offered lately, I am fully stocked. Pictured here are a few of the most recent freebies but hopefully another batch will be arriving soon! Although, one downside of freebies is that we rarely get several a day. They are mostly spread out over a week or month etc... But still, who doesn't love free?

Project Life...

I can't believe another year has gone by so fast!
Time really does fly when you are having fun!

2012 was full of fun memories and I love to remember every one with pictures. I have always been a scrapbooker/memory keeper. Recently I have switched to photobooks.

I love them for many reasons.

Some of which are:

All the pictures are right on my computer.

I can edit/crop/add any details.

They all look so neat and classy on my shelf.

And... I can share them with family & friends online or make extra copies!

I just finished our October - December 2012 photobook. I have tried them different ways, I love the idea of one big book for the year but for me, it is easier to work on a few months at at time and keep up with it! I used Shutterfly for my book and I love it. My favorite new thing with the Shutterfly books is they now include a memorabilia pocket for the back inside cover! I love this. If you happen to have a ticket stub, extra photo or anything you want to add, you can just put it in the pocket.

If you would like some great ideas for making your own albums and putting your photos in order (print and digital) check out this awesome blog post on Little Blue Boo and this post.

Do you take pictures of everything? Do you scrapbook or make photobooks?

Farm Fresh Childhood Memories & Green Eggs.

Many of my childhood memories involve chickens and eggs. It may sound funny but growing up on a farm, there were always new animals and many of them were chickens. My parents love animals and always started big, not small. After buying their first small farm they bought not one, but two horses. They started raising rabbits and again had not one but sixty rabbits. So with the chickens, they wouldn't have it any other way... They ordered 100 peeps. Different breeds such as Araucana and Rhode Island Reds. We taught the peeps to drink from their water bowl and one of my daily chores was to pick the eggs and feed the chickens. As you could imagine, 100 chickens = a lot of eggs. Once the peeps grew and started laying eggs, we would get up to 100 eggs on a daily basis.

Today, I had a quick flashback from my childhood when I stopped at the local Market and picked up a dozen farm fresh eggs. As I have mentioned this market before and how I love the idea of keeping it local and supporting our local farmers, so this market is my first weekly grocery stop. Oh and I am not just talking about your usual brown eggs, but green/blue ones too! Don't worry they aren't rotten eggs or anything from Green Eggs & Ham, they are probably from an Araucana hen.

You can really see the color in the picture but they are a light greenish blue. Love it.

I picked up some avocados to try a new Giada recipe for Chocolate Avocado Mousse, More details on that later, and some fresh spinach for smoothies.

I also picked up a jar of Lisa's Apricot preserves to try a new Pampered Chef Apricot chicken recipe.

Beef roast and carrots and celery from our Sunday family dinner in my new Rachael Ray dish.

My other new Rachael Ray dish with plain old mashed potatoes!

Have you ever eaten green eggs? Or even seen them at the store?

Freebies.

I haven't had a chance to post about my freebies lately!
Here are a few from the past few weeks.

Snow Days & Sugar Cookie Bars.

Our little town in Western Pa is a relatively quiet town, especially when it snows. If you aren't outside shoveling/plowing, building snowmen or sled riding, you are cozy at home. (Not everyone, but a bunch of us!)  Our weekend has consisted of three out of four of those things. Yes, we built a snowman and of course we were sled riding. Who could pass up the chance with about 8 or 9 inches of snow? And today is the cozy day!

G checking out the snowman.

I love cozy days at home when I get the chance to cook up something yummy and sometimes I even go wild and make dessert (haha). I love sweets and I am not sure I could live without them but I honestly don't make desserts often. I have Beef roast in the crockpot with carrots/celery and mashed taters and gravy on the side. (Yum). So I found a yummy new dessert recipe that looked pretty simple so I decided today is the day to try it!

Sugar Cookie Bars - Adapted from this recipe.

Ingredients Needed.
2-1/2 cups bread flour (or all-purpose flour is fine)
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1-1/2 Tbsp. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Frosting:
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup half and half   I didn't have this so I used milk.
1 tsp. vanilla
A pinch of salt
A few drops of food coloring (optional)

Directions:
  1. COOKIES: Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. (The longer you beat it, the fluffier your cookies will be.)
  4. Add egg and combine well.
  5. Add sour cream and vanilla and mix until completely blended.
  6. Slowly add the flour mixture and stir until well combined.
  7. Gently press the batter into the greased baking dish and spread out with hands. Tip from the original recipe...  (If you butter your hands, this will help with the stickiness.)
  8. Bake 17-20 minutes, or until edges become lightly golden.
  9. Set aside to cool completely.
  10. FROSTING: In a medium bowl, cream together butter, powdered sugar, and half and half until light and fluffy.
  11. Stir in vanilla and salt, combine well.
  12. Add food coloring if desired.
  13. Frost your cooled cookie bars..
  14. Cut into squares and your done.
